Does Using Google Make You Smarter?

image

It turns out that this completely Internet thing might non be decomposition your brain after all. In fact, evidence is in that shows using the Internet mightiness actually make you smarter.

A study undertaken by the Semel Plant for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at the University of California at City of the Angels (better famed as UCLA) shows that for more people, using the Cyberspace can personify the brain's equivalent of a rumbling-body workout.

The branch of knowledg took 24 subjects, half of which were tough Net-savvy web-crawlers, and the other half of which scarce put-upon the Internet the least bit in their daily lives (yeah, I know, I don't get how that's possible either). When asked to do something passive – indication an e-book inactive a computer display – there wasn't whatever noticeable difference in the brain activity between Type A and Group B.

However, when asked to explore for the benefits of eating chocolate, and the best elbow room to travel to the Galápagos Islands, the haunt Internet users experienced twice as often brain bodily process in the anterior, temporal and cingulate areas of their gray matter … completely of which bestow to complex reasoning.

It's a small study, and I think they'd need to obviously try once again with a larger sample size (as well as test a wider range of subjects – from what I understand, the subjects were all 50 or experienced), but hey, evidence is evidence.

Then the next prison term your parents/siblings/probative former/coworkers yell at you to stop spending so some time online, you can address them and wittily respond, "But I'm acquiring smarter. Your puny little temporal lobe is no jibe for mine." It's the mental eq of boot Sand into their face at the beach.
